Our standard aluminum stair rail systems are available in 36 inch and 42 inch
heights. 36 inch high aluminum stair rail
are advisable for applications situated 30 inches above grade or less, and 42
inch high aluminum stair rails are advisable for applications situated beyond
30 inches above grade.
42” tall stair railings
require an additional 36” tall grab rail that is mounted to the stair rail in order
to satisfy code requirements. Stair rail can be plate mounted,
core drilled or stringer mounted depending on site conditions.

to the fact that local building codes may vary from the IBC specifications.
Accomodating various stair configurations, we offer a variety of stair-rail and handrail designs.
The following are some common types stairways and stair-rail designs.
Box or Enclosed stair-ways is enclosed by walls on opposing sides and lacks any turns.
Usually an enclosed stairway only requires a handrail mounted on each wall or a single wall depending on codes in your area.
One-side-open stairways has a full body rail on one side and an optional hand-rail
on the opposing side. Open design stair railing has neither a wall
nor riser. It is completely open except for the stair stringers on opposing sides and stair
rungs.
Wrap around stairways may include a landing between
flights of stairs.
